What is a money manager?

A money manager is a professional firm we engage to manage specific parts of our clients’ investment portfolios. These managers focus on executing targeted strategies, such as buying large-cap value stocks, bonds, or international small-cap equities. Examples of firms we may work with include: American Funds, Franklin Templeton, Putnam, and Fidelity.

How do we get paid?

As financial advisors, we earn compensation in two main ways: fees or commissions.

Historically, many advisors exclusively earned money by selling financial products, but this often created a conflict of interest. Clients sought advice and strategies, while advisors were incentivized to sell products for a commission. This created a competing agenda: you wanted advice, but the advisor’s goal was to make a sale.

At Weber Wealth Advisors, we operate under a hybrid model where we are able to recommend both fee-based and commission-based financial vehicles.  This flexibility allows us to choose the best options for your needs, whether they require special licenses or come with different compensation structures.  No matter which type of vehicle we recommend, we will always disclose how we are compensated.

For fee-based accounts we are paid to provide personalized investment advice and portfolio management.  We serve as your partner – helping you navigate complex financial situations, answering questions as they arise and, when appropriate, provide ongoing comprehensive planning.  You can have peace of mind knowing a professional is actively monitoring the markets and your portfolio and making adjustments as needed. In exchange, we charge a fee—typically around 1% of assets under management. Most of our clients come to us through recommendations and referrals, which speaks to the trust we’ve built with our clients.

Make sure you're always in the loop with Weber Wealth Advisors.
