Meet Nicholas...

My family moved to Yorba Linda in the mid-70s. My dad worked his whole life as a plumber, and my mom was an ultrasound technician at Kaiser. Despite having good jobs and a steady income, there were times when we struggled, and it caused a lot of unnecessary stress on our family. I think that's what sparked my interest in personal finance at a young age. I began reading books, following the market, and learning what it meant to be wealthy. I knew that money is a tool; It doesn't matter how much money you make; if you don't use the tool correctly, you're not going to build anything concrete. I had my first job at 14, assembling woodwork out of a friend's garage making $4 an hour. By the time I was a Junior in high school, I was managing a small stock portfolio.

After high school, I attended Cal State Fullerton and graduated in 2005 with a Business Finance degree. 2 weeks after graduation, I joined Woodbury Financial Services. I survived the first 2 1/2 years and made progress; then, the financial crisis of 2008 hit. Our office of 6 advisors went down to 2. Still, I survived because I kept my expenses low, and I had a wonderful girlfriend, Erin, who had just finished nursing school and started her career as an RN at Hoag Hospital and was willing to support me. That girlfriend later became my wife, and we welcomed our first baby daughter in 2019.

During the downturn in 2008, I decided that if I am going to stay in this business, I need to get better. I got my Certified Financial Planner designation, and I did everything I could to learn from the best advisors who were willing to sacrifice their time teaching the new guy. One of those guys was Mark Weber. He took me under his wing and would meet with me a few times a year, and with his help, I slowly and steadily grew my business. In December of 2017, Mark reached out as his firm was growing and he needed some help. Thankfully I passed his 8-year interview process. He asked me to join his firm, and I merged my practice with him, and we started Weber Wealth Advisors. I continue to learn more from Mark every day, and I will never stop trying to get better.
